, Eric decided he needed a full-time co-host, so asked his longtime friend Taylor Ramsauer to join him for episode 3 and the partnership continued through episode 107.
After episode 107, Taylor left the show to tour with many different bands, such as Napalm Death
and 36 Crazyfists
, which has opened up many opportunities for him. As "The Nation" (as the listeners of The Mediocre Show refer to themselves) waved goodbye to Taylor a new co-host was brought on.
Matt Kittensparks joined The Mediocre Show after only being on a few episodes as a guest in the past. Matt was welcomed with mixed reviews at first, as people missed the old days with Taylor. After a few episodes, however, The Nation voiced their collective approval of the change. Matt brought in a new era for The Mediocre Show with his attitude, stories, segments, and rants; although Matt has sometimes been criticized for being too rude to listeners and closing his cell phone loudly into the microphone.
In episode 216, Eric brought a faux radio consultant on the show to find ways to improve the listener base of the show, as well as quality. Over the course of episodes 216 and 217, Matt removed himself from the show. Citing privacy-related concerns, details surrounding Matt's departure have not been fully revealed; what was revealed was that Matt needed to leave the show for business reasons and this made an ostensible way out for him. On episode 216 the consultant and Matt got into a major fabricated fight, and when the results of the consultation were read aloud on the show Matt volunteered to withdraw from the show. The backlash from The Nation was far greater than when Taylor left, forcing Eric to release an open letter. It was revealed in an offhand comment by Eric at a later date that Brent the consultant had been affiliated with the show earlier by making one of the intros from the Taylor era.
Eric continued doing a few episode with random guests, including The Lady Tomorrow, Travis, Nate the Beard, and Tha Mike (aka Mike Pilot). When Mike hosted, Eric decided to offer him the open co-host chair. Having just left his former podcast, The Awful Show, Mike accepted the position. Mike has brought a more technical side of the Mediocre Show alive due to his interest in Video Games, Movies, and Technology.
As part of Mike's agreement in joining the show, Hope (a.k.a. The Lady Tomorrow), was given a full-time mic position. This is a departure from her previous role, which was limited to monitoring the chat room and providing the occasional story from the back of the room. Hope was given her own segment on the show, known as the News Segment. Hope received interesting and oftentimes strange news stories from The Nation. However after a time The Nation didn't submit anymore news stories so the segment was dropped from the weekly lineup. In episode 291 Hope was given a new segment call There's Always Hope. This new segment is centered around Eric, Mike, and Hope giving members of The Nation advice on problems and queries sent into the show.
