The Emmbrook has had a reorganisation from a horizontal (year group) to a vertical (college) pastoral system. Final approval from the Governing Body was given. The changes included:- heads of college replacing the current year coordinators
- creation of 4 academic monitoring posts
- tutor groups of 25 students, 5 from each age group
- reorganisation of the school day

The School Strike
The Emmbrook School strike happened in 2008. The strike was provoked due to the change of the colleg system. the old system consisted of 4 different colleges Jupiter, Mars, Saturn and Venus. the forms were split into their own year groups. One proposed plan of the new sytem was to have breaks split up so pupils could only socialise with one half of their friends at school. Around half of the schools pupils stayed on the school field singing songs and also marching around the school trying to get more people to join the strike.Venus
