SSE was founded by members of the Swedish business community in 1909 as a response to rapid industrialization and a growing need for well educated businessmen and company managers and has maintained close ties with the business community ever since. SSE is a private business school that receives 85% of its financing from private sources.

The School is fully accredited by EQUIS (European Quality Improvement System) certifying that all of its main activities – teaching as well as research – are of the highest international standard. SSE is also the Swedish member institution of CEMS (The Global Alliance in Management Education), together with universities such as LSE, Tsinghua University and HEC.

SSE offers both bachelors and masters degree programs, MBA and PhD programs as well as providing extensive executive education customized and open programs.

SSE Master of Science in Business and Economics

The Master of Science in Business and Economics is a two year program (120 ECTS credits) where you choose between five different specializations; • Accounting & Financial Management • Finance • Economics • Management • Marketing & Media Management. Within their specialization, students write a Master's thesis worth 30 ECTS credits. The program language is English and both Swedish and international students are encouraged to apply.
The master's students will deepen their knowledge of the core subject in the specialization during the first year and will also have the possibility to take elective courses during the second year or to apply to the student exchange program or to the prestigious CEMS program

SSE Master of Science in General Management

SSE MSc in General Management is the new business program launched by SSE, targeting students with bachelor’s degrees in subjects other than Business or Economics, i.e. engineering, social science law or medicine. The goal is to provide high-potential students with an exciting opportunity to receive a first-class business education on top of their specialist educations. The program, which will be taught in English welcomes a diversity of both Swedish and international students ~(50/50). It is a two year full-time program (120 ECTS Credits) offering the students both broad knowledge of general management and skills such as negotiations, presentations and communications thus preparing them for their future careers in business. The first class of 40 students begun the new program in August 2009. The interest among students has been very strong and the average number of applicants competing for each seat in the program was as many as 35.

SSE Masters of Business Administration (MBA), Executive Format

The SSE MBA is a challenging, small and exclusive program that prepares you to take on new leadership challenges. It stands for real learning, broadened perspectives and professional development with impact. The program is ranked by the Financial Times as 1st in the Nordic and Baltic regions in 2009. Since 2001, the year the Financial Times began its Executive MBA ranking, the SSE Executive MBA has been the first in the Nordic league.
