  • The Electric Blue was released in North America, initially bundled with Super Mario 64 DS, for the same price as a lone DS ($149.99) on June 30, 2005. One million copies were sold, making it the best-selling game during that time. As of February 27, 2006 Animal Crossing: Wild World is included with the Electric Blue system.

  • The Mario Kart DS Pack was released in Europe on November 25, 2005, which contained a silver-colored DS and a copy of Mario Kart DS. The same Pack was available in New Zealand and Australia

  • The Red Hot Bundle was released in North America on November 29, 2005, including a red and silver Nintendo DS system ("Hot Rod Red"), optional racing decals, a normal Nintendo DS wrist strap/thumb pad, a bonus checkerboard wrist strap (strangely, with no thumb pad), a Mario Kart metal charm, and a copy of Mario Kart DS.      stickers that could be placed on your DS. It is the same as the original red DS that debuted in Japan alongside Jump Superstars; the only difference is that the underside of the Japanese model is black, while the underside of the American model is silver.
  • The Titanium Nintendo DS was released with a demo of the game Metroid Prime Hunters: First Hunt, on November 21, 2004 in North America and on March 11, 2005 in Europe. The bundle is no longer available in the vast majority of American and European stores.

  • On August 9, 2007, a special edition DS Lite bundle with SD Gundam G Generation Cross Drive was released. The customized, crystal-white handheld will feature the same red branding seen on Amuro Ray's Rx-93 ? Gundam in the animated film Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack.

  • On the same day, Nintendo also released a similar color scheme for the DS Lite, known as Cobalt/Onyx, and in certain regions was bundled the same as its Crimson/Onyx color variation. They both feature a glossy upper half of the DS Lite's lid, whereas the rest of the unit is matte black. This varied from earlier Onyx (Black) models as the exterior casings were not done in a matte coating; rather a glossy exterior prone to fingerprints and scratches.

  • On June 22, 2008, a special edition Guitar Hero DS was released on online retailers to help launch the new game Guitar Hero: On Tour that featured the Guitar Hero logo on the bottom right. It was available to anyone for a limited time for approx. US $179.99. This also includes the game. It can still be found at the Nintendo World Store, for approx. US $129.99, albeit in very limited copies.

  • In Spring of 2007, to celebrate the release of The Legend Of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, Nintendo released a special edition DS Lite in North America. The unit had a metallic gold sheen and a Triforce symbol etched on the lower-right corner of the lid. It was part of a bundle for The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass. Similarly, Europe received the bundle as well, but the unit bundled with the sale of the game in that region was a white DS Lite with a picture of the game's box art etched on the lower-right corner instead.

  • In 2007, Square-Enix released a few unique Nintendo DS Lite designs, one of which featured a black-on-white window etching for Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates, on a white DS Lite.

  • The same year also saw release of Seattle Mariners Limited Edition DS Lite; a white Nintendo DS Lite came sporting the Mariners' logo, again on the lower-right of the lid. It was a limited model, as only 2,000 were made available for purchase only at Safeco Field.

  • In September of 2007, in North America Nintendo released a DS Lite to commemorate the launch of Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl video games. The black Pokemon Nintendo DS Lite was bundled with a special Pokemon cartoon episode and a carrying case. The Pokemon Dialga and Palkia guarded the system's upper lid, etched in gold and silver respectively. The Nintendo DS Lite for a while after was still available in onyx black until supplies ran out; but its casing lacks the Pokemon design. A similar model was released in white around the debut of Pokemon Platinum Version featuring the Pokemon, Giratina, etched on the lid in grey.

  • In May of 2008, Nintendo released a special model of the DS Lite. The top of this white Nintendo DS Lite was outfitted with a pink ribbon that symbolizes the battle against breast cancer. For every Pink Ribbon Nintendo DS Lite that was sold, Nintendo donated $5 to Susan G. Koman for the Cure.

  • In April of 2009, for the launch of Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, Nintendo showcased 20 Nintendo DS Lite units, shown in dark navy blue and red with GTA logos on top, displayed at the Nintendo World Store.

  • In 2007, for the release of Kirby: Squeak Squad, an Australian kids' magazine, KZONE, teamed up with Nintendo to release 40 white DS Lite units that featured a black-outlined Kirby on the lid.

  • On September 15, 2007, Nintendo released a total of 16 white DS Lites, which were identical to the Seattle Mariners DS Lite units but with autographs. They were given away randomly at Safeco Field.

  • In 2007, to celebrate the release of the game Warhammer 40,000: Squad Command, Nintendo and Capcom released six special edition DS Lites. They were blue with a Warhammer design featuring gold wings surrounding a white skull that protruded off the lid by 1 cm. They were released only in the U.K.

Colors

Nintendo revealed the color schemes of the Nintendo DS Lite set for launch in Japan: Crystal White, Ice Blue, and Enamel Navy; however, due to manufacturing problems only the Crystal White was available at its launch; the other two colors arrived on March 11, 2006. Nintendo released a Noble Pink version in the region on July 20, 2006, and a Jet Black version on September 2, 2006. On May 30, 2007, Nintendo announced two new colors for Japan: Metallic Rose and Metallic Silver, which were launched on June 23, 2007. These new colors have also been launched in South Korea on July 7, 2007.

In Australia, the DS Lite was also only available in white (Polar White) at launch. On September 21, 2006, the Jet Black (Onyx) color was released. On October 16, 2006, Nintendo of Australia announced that the Coral Pink color (renamed Pink Nintendo DS Lite) would be released on November 2, 2006, alongside Nintendogs: Dalmatian & Friends

. On May 22, 2007, Nintendo of Australia stated that the Ice Blue color would be released in the region for a limited amount of time, starting on July 19, 2007. On May 30, 2008, Nintendo Australia announced two more colors available for a limited time only; the Blue/Black and Red/Black combinations will be available starting from June 19, 2008. Also, a Rose Metal version was released on the April 23, 2009.

In North America, the Nintendo DS Lite was only available in white (renamed "Polar White" for the region) at launch. On August 24, 2006, Nintendo of America announced two new model colors, Onyx (Jet Black) and Coral Pink (Noble Pink). They were released in North America on September 12, 2006. . As of October 2, 2007, the Crimson/Black DS Lite is available for purchase individually. The Crimson/Black DS Lite was supposedly discontinued only a few months after its release in January 2008. However, as of December 25, 2008, the Crimson/Black DS Lite is still available individually at most retailers. On February 2, 2008, Nintendo of America announced that the Cobalt/Black DS Lite would be released on February 10, 2008 in North America. In June 2008, the Metallic Rose DS Lite was released in North America. On September 7, 2008, the Metallic Silver DS Lite was released in North America. As of February 10 though both original colors will not be made, for Polar White was replaced by Metallic Silver in September and Nintendo stated they will no longer make Onyx DS Lite.

In Europe, in addition to the white version, a black version (named "Smart Black") was available at launch, a color unique to the region at the time. On October 27, 2006, the Coral Pink (Noble Pink) edition was released in Europe. On October 12, 2007, a silver (Platinum) DS Lite was released in Europe. On June 13, 2008, three new colors, red, green and turquoise were released in Europe.

On November 25, 2008, Nintendo confirmed that the Ice Blue color would be available on November 28 for Black Friday
