Professional

Following his successes in the local amateur boxing tournaments he decided to turn professional in 1999, and soon after returned to the Czech Republic. After picking up a number of wins at several venues around the country against Czech and Slovak opponents he won the vacant Czech heavyweight title in a bout against Marek Oravský in 2002, having lost to Oravsky several months prior. Also in 2002 he was the sparring partner to well known polish boxer Przemysław Saleta who was preparing for a EBU heavyweight title fight with German-Turkish boxer Sinan Şamil Sam
