Richard C. Edgley

Richard Crockett Edgley (born February 6, 1936) has been the first counselor in the presiding bishopric
of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) since 27 December 1995. Edgley has been a general authority
of the LDS Church since October 1992.

Robert D. Hales
in 1992. In 1994, when Merrill J. Bateman
replaced Hales as presiding bishop, Edgley was again called to be second counselor. When former first counselor H. David Burton
was made presiding bishop in 1995, Edgley was called as first counselor.
Edgley is married to Pauline Nielson, with whom he has had six children. Prior to his call as a general authority, Edgley was a vice president of General Mills
and a managing director of the Finance and Records Department of the church. He has a bachelor's degree in political science from Brigham Young University
and a master's degree in business administration from Indiana University
. As a young man, he served as a Mormon missionary
in the eastern United States
and has been a local bishop and a stake president in the church.
