family, which controls and operates the China Rebar Group, a well-known conglomerate

.
On January 5, 2007, the Republic of China
government on Taiwan announced it would take over a bank based in Taiwan under the China Rebar Group. 15 billion New Taiwan Dollar
s were withdrawn in just one day during runs on the bank. Omni Bank, which has no legal corporate affiliation with the Taiwanese bank, has sustained from any financial damage.
