She was described as tall, narrow, and sparely made, typical of her broodmare sire Prince John's offspring rather than those of her sire Northern Dancer.
Through her dam Trick Chick, Northern Trick was a grand-daughter of the notable broodmare Fast Line. Through her daughter Lingerie (GB), she herself is grand-dam of Shiva (JPN), champion older mare in Europe in 1999 and 2000, winner of the Tattersalls Gold Cup
