State Route 564 begins as a continuation of the Las Vegas Beltway (Interstate 215

History

SR 564 replaces what was formerly part of SR 146 along Lake Mead Parkway. As the Las Vegas Beltway was being constructed in the late 1990s, the last five miles (8 km) between Saint Rose Parkway and Interstate 515 were constructed on the SR 146 alignment. Since Nevada DOT does not permanently align state highways along Interstates

 or U.S. Routes, this left SR 146 in two separate segments. The eastern segment of SR 146 was reassigned to SR 564 by June 2002 (postmile panels along the highway still reflect the original SR 146 designation).

Lake Mead Parkway was originally called Lake Mead Drive, prior to the mid 2000s.
