Mythos Brewery is the second largest Greek
brewery
, best known for its Mythos brand. The company, a subsidiary of Carlsberg since 2008, also imports a number of non-Greek beers into the country.
Henninger beer, founded in 1970. In 1992, the Boutari Group purchased the company, and in 1994 it was renamed the Northern Greece Brewery Ltd., as part of a strategy to turn it into a genuine domestic Greek beer company. This was accomplished by the introduction of Mythos beer in 1997, and in 2001 the company renamed itself to the Mythos Brewery Ltd., as Mythos had become its primary product. In 2004 Scottish & Newcastle became majority shareholders.
