Marketing significance

Made in China is one of the most recognizable labels in the world today due to China

's rapidly developing large manufacturing industry. And this industry and this brand name “Made in China” also hit USA. Their textile industry is in danger due to the huge exports of textile good from China to USA. The country is the largest exporter in the world and the Made in China label can be seen on a huge range of goods from clothing to electronics.

Apple, for instance, choose to label their products with some version of "Designed in the U.S.A., Made in China" to indicate that even though the products are made in China, the original design was from the U.S. However, U.S. law requires the country of origin of the product to be clearly displayed on the product, or on the product's container if it is enclosed.

Branding

A series of highly publicized quality scandals in exports from China in the late 2000s has harmed the "Made in China" brand abroad, during which time 40% of product recall

 to hold "rogue producers" accountable. Despite the recent scandals, most consumers do not "consistently check for the country of origin label", and there is little brand awareness for Chinese products in particular. The "Made in China" brand is historically challenged by the U.S.-led Cold War

There is criticism in the United States that Chinese manufacturing firms compete unfairly due to the advantages of state support and governmental manipulation of the yuan
