Lyle is also starring in a feature length documentary on the sport of mixed martial arts titled Fight Life, the film is directed by independent filmmaker James Z. Feng and produced by RiLL Films. Beerbohm has said in multiple interviews that his career in mixed martial arts started the day he left prison. He credits MMA with saving his life, saying "MMA literally saved my life. When I got out prison, I wasn't cured. I traded one addiction for the other and MMA became my new meth."

. He had his first amateur MMA bout after a week of training. As an amateur, he went undefeated with a record of 10–0. Lyle only spent 23 months learning and training in MMA before going pro.

Beerbohm made his professional debut in April 2007. He amassed an undefeated record of 6–0 before signing with EliteXC in 2008. He went undefeated 2–0 in the organization before it was dissolved.

. In October 2009, he signed a multi-fight deal with Strikeforce. He recently scored the biggest win of his career in May 2010 over heralded BJJ practitioner Vitor Ribeiro by split decision on the Strikeforce: Heavy Artillery

 card. This win has been seen by some as controversial however and it is rumoured that Ribeiro is appealing against the decision. Critics argue Ribeiro had been the aggressor in the later rounds despite not finishing his submission attempts.

Beerbohm is known for the moniker "Fancy Pants," a reference to the colorful hand-sewn shorts from his mother that he wears into the cage. He trains out of SikJitsu and School of Boxing & Mixed Martial Arts in Spokane, Washington. His training partners are Cody McKenzie
