Biography

Luo was born in Huangyan, Zhejiang Province on 2 Aug 1898. Lo's father was a merchant. Lo entered Hangzhou

 Anding Middle School in 1911. In 1912, Lo transfeered to Shanghai Nanyang Middle School and graduated in 1917. In 1930, Lo obtained PhD from Hokkaido University

Lo went back to China and in Feb 1930 became professor and the head of the department of biology at the Sun Yat-sen University

After 1949, the new People's Republic of China was founded, and Lo became the first president of the Research Institute of Plant Physiology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences
