Galeries d'Anjou is one of Cadillac Fairview
's four self-branded "Fashion centres" that also include the Carrefour Laval

and Les Promenades Saint-Bruno. It is the smallest of Cadillac Fairview's four Fashion centres and the only one within the city limits of Montreal.
Like Fairview Pointe-Claire (but unlike Carrefour Laval and Promenades Saint-Bruno), Galeries d'Anjou is co-owned by Ivanhoe Cambridge
.
Galeries d'Anjou was the largest mall on the island of Montreal
from 1968 to 1985. Today it has been surpassed by Place Versailles
and sister mall Fairview Pointe-Claire. Despite this, it remains one of largest malls in Greater Montreal.
In 1968, Galeries d'Anjou opened. Its original anchors were the department stores Simpson's and Eaton's
, the supermarkets Steinberg's
and Dominion
, and a Famous Players movie theater.
In 1976, the mall was expanded to make room for an additional wing including the arrival of the current Sears
. Part of this expansion happened on the space of the former Famous Player movie theater which had closed and been demolished the year before. Thus far, this is the only expansion the mall has had in its history.
In 1980, Dominion rebranded as Provigo
.
In 1989, the Bay
replaced Simpsons.
In 1991, Provigo closed. (Its space is now the mall's food court
and a SAQ
.)
In 1992, Steinberg's went bankrupt and became a Provigo, less than a year after the previous Provigo (the former Dominion store) had closed down.
In 1993, Provigo (the former Steinberg's store) became Maxi
.
In 1999, Eaton's closed its doors.
In 2000, Zellers
opened. It took the first floor of the former location of Eaton's.
In 2002, Maxi closed to make room for Sports Experts/Atmosphere
. It was relocated as a Loblaws
store next to Place Versailles
in the Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough.
In 2003, Brick
opened on the second floor of the former Eaton's store. An escalator
was added at the entrance for Brick. This escalator is not located at the same place as the one from the old Eaton's store which was removed when Zellers took over the lease.
In 2008, Sears closed its standalone auto mechanics centre.
In 2009, a Linen Chest opened in the mall but only has an outdoor entrance. Gap
closed and has been replaced by Jacob/Jacob Lingerie
.
In 2011, it was announced that Simons
will open a store in Galeries d'Anjou for Spring 2013. The store will be located on the north side of the mall. On May 26, Target Corporation
revealed that it had acquired the lease
of the Zellers store in Galeries d'Anjou and will likely convert it into its own nameplate in 2013. In addition, Sears Canada remodeled their store.
