History

The station went on the air on April 13, 1986 with the call letters KSCH. It originally was an independent station and aired classic television shows of the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s. Some shows that were aired had not been seen since their original network/syndication

and became an affiliate of The WB. When Hearst-Argyle Television (predecessor to today's Hearst Television) bought KCRA and its LMA with KQCA in 1999, the "Q 58" branding was dropped in favor of its call letters and channel number. Hearst-Argyle eventually bought KQCA outright in 2000 and the station adopted the "WB 58" branding in September 2004.

On January 24, 2006, the WB and UPN networks announced that they would cease broadcasting and merge to create a new network. The new network would be called The CW, the letters representing the first initial of its corporate parents CBS (the parent company of UPN) and the Warner Bros.

pre-season games. It took the broadcasting rights from KMAX.

Like its sister station KCRA, My58 airs local news on a regular basis. It also airs news at special times in the event NBC special programming pre-empts KCRA's regularly scheduled local news (for example, if an event such as NFL football airs at 5 pm on a typical Sunday on KCRA, My58 will take its sister station's place in airing its early news).

Newscasts

Before the switch to MyNetworkTV branding, KQCA used to have its own set and own newscast. Once the station branded itself with the new MyNetworkTV affiliation, the decision was made to just use KCRA's set and anchors. While KCRAs newscast are branded as "KCRA 3 Reports", KQCAs newscast is branded as "KCRA 3 News".

Morning news

In 2007, KQCA announced that it would be stopping the daily video feed of the radio program the Armstrong & Getty Show, instead going for a morning news show to compete with KMAX-TV's Good Day Sacramento. The newscast, very similar to Good Day Sacramento, airs from 7:00 am to 9:00 am Monday through Friday. The station advertises as being from 7-9, although it actually simulcasts sister station's KCRA morning news so the program actually starts at 4:30 am and ends at 9:00 am.
