KJMM signed on the air in 1994 as the Urban Contemporary-formatted station for Tulsa. It was one of three original Urban stations launched with the help of Perry Broadcasting, an African-American-based media company under the "Power Jammin'" network (KVSP

These announcers had Tulsa on lock until Perry offered better salaries and took all announcers from Mix 102.3. Hiring them to establish his frequency 105.3fm. And when Mix 102.3 folded because of this, Perry fired all of the announcers but Aaron Bernard, and to this day there are no original Tulsa announcers on the station. The station has lacked on Arbitron ratings ever since. Nevertheless, the station played Hip Hop, R&B, Rap and Gospel over the years and was originally called Fresh Jamz 105. In 2004, KJMM changed its name to 105.3 K-Jamz, began carrying the Doug Banks
