Campus 2 is located in Kertamukti Street, only several meters away from the Campus 1. It consist of Post Graduate School, Language Centers, Syahida Inn Hotel, Faculty Housing Complex, Experimental Garden, sports facilities, Fathullah Mosque (the biggest mosque in the campus), Syarif Hidayatullah Hospital, Students Dormitory, National Information and Communication Technology (NICT) and 3 faculty building. For Faculty of Social and Political Science, the new building is being built and planned for completion in late 2011.

Campus 3 will be used as Agribusiness Laboratory and Industrial Business.

History

On June 1, 2007, Jakarta State Islamic University or UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta celebrated its golden anniversary. For half a century, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta has been carrying out its mandate as an institution of learning and transmitting knowledge, research institutions that support the process of nation building, and as an institution devoted to the community that provides programs to improve social welfare. For half a century, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta has gone through several periods of history and has emerged one of the leading Islamic universities in Indonesia. Briefly, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta history can be divided into several periods: the pioneering period, the period of al-Jami'ah faculty of IAIN, IAIN Syarif Hidayatullah period, and period UIN Syarif Hidayatullah.

It began as an academy called ADIA (Akademi Dinas Ilmu Agama or State Academy of Islamic Sciences) from 1957 to 1960. It then became one of the faculties of IAIN Yogyakarta (1960–1963), and finally IAIN Syarif Hidayatullah, from 1963 until Presidential Decree No. 31 of 2002 on May 20, 2002, officially saw it become UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta

 from Jakarta to Yogyakarta. In line with the development of an increasingly large STI, on March 22, 1948, STI's name was changed to the Indonesian Islamic University (UII) with the addition of new faculties. In 1948, UII had four faculties:

The need for working energy in the Department of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia became an important backdrop establishment of Islamic universities. To meet this need, the Faculty of Religion separated and transformed into the State Islamic University (PTAIN). This change is based on Government Regulation (PP) no. 34 in 1950. The preamble stated that PTAIN aims to provide high-level teaching Islamic studies and become the center of the development and deepening of the Islamic religious sciences. Based on the PP, PTAIN was established on September 26, 1950. PTAIN was led by KH. Muhammad Adnan; in 1951 there were as many as 67 students. In that period PTAIN had three departments:

ADIA leadership entrusted to Prof. Dr. H. Mahmud Yunus as Dean and Professor. H. Bustami A. Gani as Vice Dean.

There are two main characteristics of ADIA. First, in accordance with its mandate as the service academies, students who follow the school

The increasing number of students and expansion of area of studies demands the expansion and additions in terms of institutional capacities, faculties and departments as well as the composition of subjects. To meet this need, ADIA in Jakarta and Yogyakarta PTAIN be integrated into a single Islamic institution of higher education the country. Integration implemented with the release of Rule President of the Republic of Indonesia No. 11 of 1960 dated 24 August 1960. Presidential Regulation is at once change and set the name change from PTAIN the State Islamic Institute (IAIN) al-Jami'ah al-Islamiyah al-Hukumiyah. IAIN inaugurated Minister of Religious Affairs Republic of Indonesia in Building Kepatihan Yogyakarta.

Step changes in the form of a UIN get recommendations IAIN government with the signing of the Joint Decree between the Minister of National Education No. 4/U/KB/2001 and Minister of Religious Affairs No. 500/2001 dated 21 November 2001. Furthermore, through its letter No. 088796/MPN/2001 dated 22 November 2001, the Director General of Higher Education Department of Education recommends the opening of 12 programs of study that includes courses of social sciences and exact sciences, namely Computer Science, Information Systems, Accounting, Management, Social Economics of Agriculture / Agribusiness, Psychology, English Language and Literature, Library Science, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, and Biology. Along with that, the draft presidential decree on the amendment form becomes UIN IAIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta has also received the recommendations and considerations RI State Minister for Administrative Reform and the Ministry of Finance DG Budget Number 02/M-PAN/1/2002 dated January 9, 2002 and No. S -490/MK-2/2002 February 14, 2002. These recommendations form the basis for the release of Presidential Decree No. 031 dated 20 May 2002 on changes in IAIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta to UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta.

Vision and mission

The vision for UIN Jakarta is for it to become a prominent higher learning institution that integrates three different aspects: scientific, Islamic, and Indonesian traditions and learning.

  • To produce scholars with competitive competence in the global context;
  • To implement the reintegration of various sciences;
  • To provide a moral bases for the development of science and technology;
  • To develop sciences through research activities;
  • To contribute to the improvement of the quality of social life.


In the academic year of 2002/2003, UIN Jakarta offers study programs in nine faculties of the first strata (S1 or undergraduate level): (1) Faculty of Tarbiya and Teaching Sciences, (2) Faculty of Adab and Humanffies, (3) Faculty of Usul al-Din and Philosophy, (4) Faculty of Shari'a and Law, (5) Faculty of Da'wa and Communication, (6) Faculty of Dirasat Islamiya, (7) Faculty of Psychology, (8) Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences, (9) Faculty of Science and Technology. Since 2004/2005 academic year, UIN Jakarta added one other faculty in order to follow the demands of the needs of the society. The faculty is Faculty of Medical and Health Science. And the newest faculty that established in 2009, which is Faculty of Social and Political Science. This faculty was built in order to answer the demands of the future dynamics of society. And the other reason, the rapid social changes that are running need more social scientists that are capable and qualified to analyze the various socio-political phenomenon.

Faculties

In an effort to meet the needs of higher education in accordance with the demands of society, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta open majors and new courses to support the development of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta in integrating aspects of science, Islamic and Indonesian-ness. Thus within a decade, UIN syarif Hidayatullah has added several new faculty. The number of existing faculty now consists of 11 faculties. Consisting of religious-based faculty, social science-based faculty, and science-based faculty. Namely:

Faculty of Economics and Business

This Faculty aims to develop economic sciences with Islamic characteristics, i.e. to integrate economic aspects with Islamic teachings in order to graduate professional scholars with a commitment to Islam. This Faculty is responsible for developing medical science and health with Islamic values too. The Faculty has four study programs: Medical (Kedokteran), Pharmaceutical (Farmasi), Nursing (Keperawatan), and Public Health (Kesehatan Masyarakat). And recently, the Faculty of Medical and Health Science of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta won The Best Architectural of Medicine Faculty Building in Indonesia.

Faculty of Social and Political Science

This Faculty is a newest faculty and responsible for developing politics view and sociology. The Faculty has three study programs: Islamic Political Thought (Pemikiran Politik Islam), Sociology of Religion (Sosiologi Agama), and International Relations

Post Graduate School

In addition to undergraduate programs, UIN is also conducting graduate degrees at master and doctorate levels, including the program of "doctor by research". These programs have the common objective of graduating scholars who are open-minded and responsive to advances in science and technology and capable of developing religious education and conducting researches in religious sciences.
