Ivan Podyomov

Ivan Podyomov is a Russian oboist.
He is laureate of the second prize at the ARD International Music Competition
in Munich 2007 and 2011, the first prize at the Prague Spring International Music Competition
2008, the first prize of the renowned international oboe competition in Karuizawa, Japan 2009, as well as the special prizes from the Pro Harmonia Mundi Foundation and The Bohuslav Martinu Foundation. He commenced his musical education at the Moscow Gnessins Special Music School in 1993 studying recorder
with Ivan Pushetchnikov. In 1996 he began oboe
studies with the same professor, graduating in 2003. Since 2006 Ivan has been studying with Maurice Bourgue at the Geneva Conservatorium of Music.
Ivan Podyomov is prizewinner of numerous musical prizes. At the age of eleven he won first prize in the Russian television competition Young Musicians of Moscow. In 1998 he was overall winner of the Moscow Young Oboists Competition and the Moscow Woodwind Ensemble Competition. In the Concertino Praga competition in 1998 Ivan was given honorary mention of the jury and became the youngest laureate of the year. In 2005 he won first prize at the International Rimsky-Korsakov Competition in St. Petersburg
