Route description

Iowa Highway 192 goes north on the South Expressway from Interstates 29 and 80 and after crossing a bridge which crosses over several railroad tracks, splits into a two way pair of one way streets. Northbound Iowa 192 is 6th Street and southbound Iowa 192 is 7th Street. When Iowa 192 meets U.S. Route 6

, which runs on Broadway and Kanesville Road through Council Bluffs, it turns west with US 6 until it meets 16th Street. It then turns north and goes north until it merges into northbound Interstate 29. The segment it shares with US 6 and the 16th Street segment are both 4 lane divided highways.

There is no direct access from the north terminus of Iowa 192 to southbound I-29. Also, if one is driving south on I-29 and wishes to exit onto Iowa 192, one must make a left exit.
