Kyle Boller, Kyle Matter, and Matt Moore, the starting quarterbacks for the CIF championship teams from 1998–2001, all went on to become college quarterbacks for California, Stanford, and UCLA/Oregon State as well. On one weekend in 2003, all 3 were the starting quarterbacks, becoming the first known instance in which 3 quarterbacks from the same high school simultaneously were the starting quarterback in the same collegiate conference (Pac 10).

 headed by band director Anthony H. Bailey for the last eleven years, during which they have won nine straight SCSBOA championships (in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010). The regiment consists of a front percussion ensemble, marching winds, color guard, and a drumline.

, it is "the national center for performing arts" and also the nation's busiest performing arts facility. The Hart Wind Ensemble went on to receive the Gold Award, the highest award presented to any performing school at the event. Also while in D.C. the Wind Ensemble performed an outdoor, public concert in front of the Thomas Jefferson Memorial. The trip was held April 23–28, 2009.

Spring Instrumental Ensembles

In the spring, the instrumental students separate into different ensemble groups. The wind ensemble is the higher of the two full ensembles which students must audition for. Because of the small size of the wind ensemble, the remaining students perform in the concert band. Students in percussion may also participate in the indoor drumline group, which performs shows with a front ensemble and a marching drumline. The jazz band is an extracurricular activity in the fall, and an audition group in the spring.

In February, 2007, the wind ensemble was one of two high school bands in the state of California to perform at the California Band Director's Association's 50th anniversary conference in Fresno
