Gotas de Rap "Drops of Rap" are a Colombia
n Rap Group from Bogotá
. They toured Europe
in 1995 and in their songs they rap in Spanish
about the social and political problems in Colombia. They had huge success among the ghettos and rappers but never reached stardom because of their controversial lyrics and new breed of music for the Colombian people. Hip-hop only came to its peak in 2002 and has dominated radio stations since then. The new form of hip hop is reggaeton, a hybrid of RnB and Rap.
In 1998, Gotas De Rap dismantled because of the sudden death of Melisa, the female rapper. She died in a car accident leaving the band harm and the fans devastation. Not much is known about the rap group but that some members of the group started a Clothing line called "Ayara". One of the rappers from the Band "Donpopo" moved to the Netherlands
in 2002 and has started his own music career there.
Gotas de Rap is famous for their song "Reina de mi Alma" featured in the famous Colombian soap opera "Por Que Diablos".

EN 1995 LANZARON SU PRIMER PRODUCION CONTRA EL MURO, NOMBRE TAMBIEN DE SU PROPIO HE INDEPENDIENTE SELLO DISQUERO, CONTRA EL MURO DE GOTAS DE RAP , FUE LA PRIMERA GRABACION DE RAP UNDERGROUND Y HARDCORE DE COLOMBIA , ASI ABRIERON LAS PUERTAS PARA QUE MUCHOS SE ATREVIERAN A PUBLICAR SUS TALENTOS.

EN 1997 SANCAN AL RUEDO UN CLASICO DEL HIP HOP COLOMBIANO, REVOLUCION UN DISCO CARGADO DE LIRICAS POLITICAMENTE REVOLUCIONARIAS PERO, SIN DEJAR EL IDIOMA CALLEJERO QUE HA CARACTERIZADO AL GRUPO, QUE SE CONVIRTIO EN UN CLASICO CON EL PASO DE LOS AÑOS Y HOY EN DIA NO FALTA EN LA DISQUERA DE TODO AMANTE DEL HIP HOP EN COLOMBIA 1999. LA MUERTE TRAGICA DE UNO DE LOS INTEGRANTES DE GOTAS DE RAP MELISSA HACE QUE EL GRUPO ENTRE EN UN TIEMPO DE REFLEXION Y DUELO QUE DURA VARIOS AÑOS.
En la actualidad Kontenk trabaja con 527 Records, Cap trabaja para un canal de television colombiano haciendo la banda sonora de muchas de las producciones que aqui se realizan, Inspector fire al parecer cayo en la indigencia y en una fuerte adiccion al crack, Santa cruz medina aun continua con el proyecto Golpe directo y javy o tormento cono se le conoce trabaja en la produccion de un album en Nueva York.
