Geroldswil has an area of 1.9 km² (0.733594101325817 sq mi). Of this area, 27% is used for agricultural purposes, while 24.3% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 42.9% is settled (buildings or roads) and the remainder (5.8%) is non-productive (rivers, glaciers or mountains). housing and buildings made up 36.1% of the total area, while transportation infrastructure made up the rest (7.9%). Of the total unproductive area, water (streams and lakes) made up 3.1% of the area. 43.8% of the total municipal area was undergoing some type of construction.
