The Architecture and Urbanism College of University of São Paulo (Portuguese

. It was founded in 1948 by a group of teachers from Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo

It´s current building, designed by João Batista Vilanova Artigas
, was inaugurated in 1969 and is considered one of the main representatives of architectural modernism in Brazil. Vilvanova Artigas also helped creating the original school’s curriculum, a Bauhaus
-style program that placed technical skills, history, and design on equal footing . During the early 2000s, there were internal discussions in the University that led to the creation of the Design course in 2006.
