Born in 1943 Elizabeth Fink in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to a family of farmers, teachers, doctors and railroad executives.
She is a graduate of Topeka High School
and Middlebury College

and lived in Peru
and Chile
for extended periods. Farnsworth is an expert on South America
