Most football matches on the channel have the original UK commentary, especially when the channel is broadcasting action originally shown by ITV, but Premier League games tend to feature commentary dubbed on more recently by Jon Champion

One exception had been BBC-produced coverage of rugby union's Five Nations tournament shown during the 2011 Six Nations Championship

. However, in a new deal between ESPN and the BBC, classic BBC action started to be shown again on the channel. Around 80 hours of action will be shown beginning in April 2011 as part of the deal, including FA Cup matches, Formula One from when the BBC had the rights to the event, test cricket and BBC-produced sporting documentaries. This deal with BBC Sport co-insided with a new look for the channel, the first new look since ESPN UK launched in summer 2009.

ESPN Classic has also recently been producing its own programmes. Examples include 'Sport Years' as well as football compilation programmes. In addition, to mark the 30th anniversary of ESPN
