East Kilbride Handball Club was originally started in 1972 and based in the John Wright Sports Centre , in the same year that the Scottish Handball Association

In 2004 the juniors entered the Partille Cup, the largest handball tournament in the world .
In 2009 the Juniors won the Scottish League and Cup double.

European Cup

EK82's opponents in their only European Cup adventure to date was THW Kiel

 of Germany. The first leg was played at the Kiel Ostseehalle, in Germany in front of a crowd of 3500 on 30 September 1983, a game which East Kilbride were to lose 43:8 (21:2 at half time). The second leg was played in the Cogenkrooghalle, Neustadt in Germany in front of a 800 capacity crowd on 3 October 1983. Again the home side were to lose to the German Champions, this by a score of 6:44 (2:18 at half time)
ending their run in the competition.

East Kilbride were drawn against the Belgian outfit, Progres HC Seraing, in a 2 legged encounter.

The first match was at the John Wright Sports Centre in front of a crowd of 500 spectators , a match which the home side were to lose 17-43.

The return leg saw East Kilbride lose 7-35.

Winners of the groups proceed to the Semi-Finals, whilst 2nd place form group 1 plays 3rd place from group 2, and 2nd group 2 plays 3rd place from group 1.

The winners of the Play-Off game play the Group Winners in the Semi Finals.

Juniors

EK82 Junior HC are split into two sides - EK82 AND John Wright HC. EK82 are currently Scottish Junior League and Cup Champions , whilst John Wright HC finished in the runners-up spot in the League last term, and were knocked out in the Semi-Final of the Scottish Cup by EK82.

The new Junior League Season will hopefully be commencing in January 2010. Fixtures will be announced as soon as they are finalised.
