D-CON first ran on the 28th of February 2009 and attracted 350 guests. This made it the highest attended anime convention

 in Scotland. Followed closely in numbers by another Scottish convention, "Auchinawa". On the 6th and 7th of March 2010, D-CON reopened its doors to welcome in over 2000 guests in the course of the weekend - over five times the number of visitors to the inaugural event. This pushed it into a higher league making it one of the largest, free, anime convention
