Carlos Lascano is an Argentine
director and writer, mainly known for his works in animation
and illustration

, Argentina, Lascano early started his art career, as he was gifted at drawing, painting and story writing. At the age of fourteen, he had completed over two hundred pages of a comic of his creation, and at seventeen he made his first painting exposition, Girls, which had been positively received by the public, and brought Lascano to the local spotlight. A year later, he wrote and designed a graphic novel: 1675, La leyenda del Torreón del Monje, based on an old argentinian legend.
Following a strong family tradition, he completed Law School in 1997, but decided not to practice and to dedicate entirely to art creation. A year later, at 24, he concluded Marionettes, his first film, for which he was awarded the Silver Prize as "Best Experimental Feature Film" at the 1998 Worldfest
. The same film later came to be part of the reference material used at the Manuel Antin
´s Cinema University, in Buenos Aires.
In 1998 Lascano founded Pandemonium Visual Group, a combination of an acting school and an audiovisual production company. During this time he worked intensively with actors at film sets, work that helped him to reassure his directing skills.
He later improved those skills studying scenic arts with the recognized director, Manuel González Gil.
At the head of his production company, he developed both artistic and commercial projects, working with large local and international companies, such as Telefonica
, McDonalds, Fate O, among others, achieving with one of his spots the First Mention of the Lápiz de Oro award, the most important prize in argentinian advertisement.
In 2000 he was awarded the Georges Meliès Prize for his short film Les Amants, and was invited to Paris to meet with large local production companies. The film was later chosen to be published as one of the best short films that ever won the Georges Meliès.
In 2002 Lascano moved to Barcelona to film, by request of Televisió de Catalunya
, a remake of his second film, Perverse Game. From that moment on he started working nonstop as filmmaker, editor, script writer, special effects supervisor and animator for cinema, television, documentaries and advertisement, not only for Spain but also for France, Italy, United Kingdom and the United States. He wrote and directed video clips for recognized Spanish musicians and has worked with important artists like Javier Bardem
, Alex de la Iglesia
, among others.
His original artwork, editing and animation direction of The Legend of the Scarecrow earned the short film over 20 awards worldwide, including a Goya Awards
nomination and a pre-selection to the 2005 Oscar Academy Awards

After the experience acquired from The Legend of the Scarecrow, he deepened his drawing style and merged it with his extensive technical knowledge and his filmmaking experience, in order to focus on the creation of animation pieces.
In 2008 he published online his latest short film, A short love story in Stop Motion, which collected over two million views and around 40.000 quotations in websites from all over the globe in the first six months. Then came The Can, a spot commissioned by Red Bull
Austria, intended to be part of a program that Red Bull organized together with the University of Applied Arts Vienna

In 2009 he founded his own production company, DreamLife Studio SL, with the intention of starting to produce his own works on a larger scale. The company is based in Madrid.
In 2009 and 2010 he focused mainly on advertisement, working on large campaigns for Al Balad Newspaper in Lebanon, Oscillococcinum
in France, Popsicle
Ice Pops in the US, and TetraPak in Russia. During 2010 he also directed the music video J’ai pas le temps for French singer Gabi. The video was featured at the third episode of the Zacuto’s Emmy award
winning web series The Great Camera Shootout , in Chicago, where Lascano also participated as a guest.
Later on that year, he was invited by Vimeo
to participate as a judge for the Animation Category of their first festival, Vimeo Festival + Awards , held in New York on October 9th, 2010, next to other award-winning filmmakers such as David Lynch

In 2011 he was commissioned by Amnesty International to write and direct an animated spot for their 50th anniversary. The original score was composed by the Academy Award Winner Hans Zimmer
and the Academy Award Nominee Lorne Balfe
, and the production took place in Prague between his own company, DreamLife Studio and Eallin Motion Art. The spot was internationally released by Amnesty International
on May 28 th, 2011, on the day its 50th anniversary was commemorated.
Owner of a very personal style, his mixing of digital tools and real objects brought a new organic aesthetic concept to animation, making Carlos achieve international recognition, and setting him on the sight of large advertisement companies. Eallin Motion Art (Czech Republic), Bent Image Lab
