The team was formerly known as Campeonato Brasileiro from 1976 to 1987, Liga Nacional from the 1988/89 to the 1993/94 season.

Starting in the 1994/95 season, the tournament is known as Superliga, and the first champion was Leite Moça/Sorocaba
