Britney Jean Carlson known better by her stage name BC Jean, is an American
singer-songwriter
and actress, best known for writing the song "If I Were a Boy
" for R&B singer Beyoncé, which premiered on music industry website "Crazed Hits" in May 2008, several months prior to Beyoncé getting a hold of the song and recording it.
Jean is currently signed to J Records
and is working on an as-of-yet untitled debut album with Dallas Austin, The Matrix, and Toby Gad. After signing with J, Clive Davis

prior to embarking on a solo career.
Jean released her debut single "Just a Guy" on September 14, 2010, She also starred in the mini web-series Talent by Aloy YouTube
as Harper, a musician who travels to Los Angeles
with her best friend/self-proclaimed manager Danielle in search of fame. A second series has been produced and due to premeire in December 2011.
On October 7, RCA Music Group
announced it was disbanding J Records
along with Arista Records
and Jive Records
. With the shutdown, BC Jean (and all other artists previously signed to these three labels) will release her future material on the RCA Records
brand.
