) is a former American
swimmer
. She swam in college at Furman University. Over her career, she won three relay Olympic
gold medal
s and three Olympic bronze medals.
In addition to her Olympic medals, she won twelve Pan Pacific
medals, seven Goodwill Games
gold medals. She was a captain of the 1996 U.S. Women's Olympic Swimming team. Many people feel that this sent the wrong signals to US athletes given her 1988 suspension for testing positive for nandralone.
Martino is currently the assistant coach of the Baldwin Aqua Dragons swim team in Milledgeville, Georgia
and coaches for the Reynolds Rapids Swim Team in Greensboro, GA and also helps the varsity swim team at Gatewood Schools in Eatonton, GA.
She has two sons Michael Campion aged 13 and Mark aged 9.
