Aharon Solomons

Aharon Solomons was born on the 27th September 1939 is a free-diver and national record holder.
The son of Mary Huntemuller Kirk. and Ernest Aldrich Simpson
that was a partner with the shipbrokerage firm Simpson, Spence & Young (and best known as the second husband of Wallis Simpson, who later would marry the former Edward VIII of the United Kingdom). Solomons was baptised as Ernest Henry Simpson at Guard's Chapel, Wellington Barracks, London, England. In 1958 his name was legally changed to Aharon Solomons. Solomons' father died in 1958 and his mother died in 1941.

In 1957 he was inducted into his fathers regiment, the Coldstream Guards
, he was commissioned as an officer in the Intelligence Corps and served in the Middle East
.
In 1962 he moved to Israel
and joined the Israeli Defense Forces, he saw action in 1967/68 and on the Golan Heights in 1973. He married Joy Corisande Jackson in 1960. Their first son Uri was born in Israel in 1964 and the second son Nadav was born in Israel in 1965.
Solomons lived for 10 years on communal agricultural settlements
and then in Rosh Pinna
. From 1975 he traveled initially in the Sinai then Greece
, Micronesia
and Mexico
where he settled for a time. He taught scuba
for many years in Eilat and in 1992 he met Francisco Ferreras “Pipin”
and Umberto Pelizzari
,in 1993 he trained with Pipin in Cuba
in both - No-Limits and constant weight disciplines of freediving. He visited India for 6 months where he studied Ashtanga Vinyasa
with Pattabhi Jois in Mysore and Pranayama
with BKS Iyengar and Venkatesh.
Since his time in India, Solomons has taught freediving with Maria-Teresa Solomons(a.k.a. MT) in Israel, The Turks and Caicos
, Greece
and Mexico
. He married MT in 1997 and in 1998 a son was born Ze’ev.
The Solomons are currently separated but work and train together in the Freedivers.
Aharon and Maria Teresa Solomons were members of the Israeli freediving team in Ibiza
in 2001 and Maria Teresa was on the UK team in Egypt
in 2008. MT is A.I.D.A
Master instructors and currently train and teach in La Paz, Baja California Sur
