in January 2005 and stayed with the club for two years. In the summer of 2007 Bastia decided against renewing his contract and he was released.
On 14 November 2007 he signed for Algerian side MC Alger on an eighteen-month contract. His contract also included a clause which meant that should he receive an offer he wished to accept, then he could leave the club.
On June 11, 2008, he returned to SC Bastia
on a one-year deal.
Because of a succession of injuries, he did not score a lot of goals, and as a consequence he has not been renewed by Bastia

On July 20, 2009 Cherrad signed a contract with the newly promoted to French Ligue 2
AC Arles-Avignon. Cherrad was released from his contract with Arles in December 2009.
On 2 February 2010 CS Maritimo
signed the Algerian forward on a free transfer until June 2011, the 29-year-old was recently released from French club Arles.
