The 15th FINA World Championships are to be held in the Summer of 2013 in Barcelona, Spain
from July 19 to August 4.
The Worlds were originally awarded to Dubai, UAE
in July 2009; however, Dubai withdrew as host in March 2010. FINA then re-bid the meet, and Barcelona was selected on September 26, 2010.
On March 3, 2009, 3 cities were announced as candidates: Dubai, Hamburg and Moscow.
On July 18, 2009, the Worlds were awarded to Dubai, United Arab Emirates
On May 15, 2010, FINA announced that Dubai had withdrawn as host, and that a new host would be sought.
On September 26, 2010, the FINA Bureau selected Barcelona as the host. Fina president Julio Maglione said that the Spanish city had been picked because of its good infrastructure and support by Spanish government and local authorities. Barcelona had already hosted the World Aquatics Championships in 2003
