Every Thursday night, around 10pm, you can see this street corner erupt in an outcry of poetry, music, art and literature.
16th Street station is one of the more sketchy and dangerous BART stations within the system. The Mission District from 13th and Mission to about 26th and Mission tend to be more dangerous, making the 16th and 24th Street stations somewhat dangerous anywhere outside the faregates. There are often sketchy people hanging and waiting at street level outside the BART entrance. The Station, although sketchy, has some really beautiful artwork surrounding, including BART murals and community murals. There is a McDonalds across from the BART entrance at street level, both at this station and the 24th Street station.
