The area was formerly mostly farmland, with some remaining woodland. In the mid-20th century, urban development and industrial buildings replaced most of the farms and the area is mostly residential; some remnants of woodland are to be found in the squares, or plateies

. The remaining farmland today is to the east, around Zefyri, where the terrain is rockier with areas of scrub.

 river lies to the east. The mountains mainly with bushes are to the north and the west along with the Parnitha

 ranges to the north. Further higher are pine trees. Zefyri has schools, a few lyceums, gymnasia, banks, a railway station, a sports centre, cinemas and post offices.
