Prefecture

As a part of the 2011 Kallikratis government reform, the regional unit West Attica was created out of the former prefecture

The prefecture of West Attica was subdivided into two provinces

: the Province of Megaris (capital Megara), and the Province of Eleusis (capital Elefsina). They were abolished before the Kallikratis programme came into effect.
