, but on March 22, 2006, it was announced in Broadcasting & Cable Magazine that XHUPN would instead be a new affiliate of MyNetworkTV

. The station's UPN 13 logo had been dropped and the station simply called itself "Channel 13"; then later, "TV 13". This same practice of dropping UPN brandings from logos had become common on stations owned by News Corporation

, due to the pending demise of UPN. Not long after XHUPN received the MyNetworkTV affiliation, it changed its calls to the present XHDTV. UPN programming on XHDTV ended on September 4, with the exception of WWE Friday Night SmackDown, which aired on late Friday/early Saturday after midnight, for the two weeks prior to the launch of The CW.
