Wingfield is the site for the Wingfield Waste & Recycling Centre currently owned and operated by Adelaide City Council.

Between 1952 and 2004 the Wingfield site was operated as a landfill dump, but since 2004 it has become a waste and recycling transfer centre with all waste being sorted into recyclable products or waste product with the waste compacted and deposited into other environmentally friendly landfill areas.
