History

The West Shore Symphony was formed in 1938 by A.M. Courtright, a local teacher, and Palmer Quackenbush. It gave its first performance in November of that year, and incorporated the following year. The orchestra performed in local schools until the Frauenthal Center reopened in the late 1970s. The orchestra currently performs eight concerts per season: five classical and three pops.
