, England. It has 350 beds and provides inpatient, outpatient and diagnostic services. Warwick Hospital and Stratford Hospital comprise the service providers of the South Warwickshire General Hospitals NHS Trust, which employs over 2,200 people and serves a population of about 270,000.

History

The modern history of the hospital is linked closely with that of the town's poorhouse

, as was that of many European hospitals. The first hospital on the Union Road (now Lakin Road) site was built in 1848 next to the poorhouse. It was extended in 1857 and 1876 with a chapel

 and mortuary following in 1883. In 1903 a new hospital was built and in 1930 the poorhouse became part of the hospital too. Parts of the current hospital date from 1903. The most recent major redevelopments include a re-vamp of the accident and emergency department in 2001, a new outpatients department in 2005 and a birthing pool in 2007.

The hospital now has a dedicated cancer unit that caters for the local population. Chemotherapy is carried out in the Aylesford Unit on-site, enabling patients to have treatment closer to home rather than travelling to University Hospital in Coventry.
