in 1953. In 1954 he became Undersecretary of the Treasury. On March 5, 1955, Burgess married Helen Morgan Hamilton, widow of Arthur Hale Woods. During the war, she served in the Women's Army Corp, rising to the rank of Lt. Colonel.
