Villars-sous-Champvent has an area, , of 0.9 square kilometre. Of this area, 0.77 square kilometre or 84.6% is used for agricultural purposes, while 0.08 square kilometre or 8.8% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 0.06 km² (14.8 acre) or 6.6% is settled (buildings or roads).

Power and water infrastructure as well as other special developed areas made up 1.1% of the area Out of the forested land, 7.7% of the total land area is heavily forested and 1.1% is covered with orchards or small clusters of trees. Of the agricultural land, 70.3% is used for growing crops and 9.9% is pastures, while 4.4% is used for orchards or vine crops.

The municipality was part of the Yverdon District until it was dissolved on 31 August 2006, and Villars-sous-Champvent became part of the new district of Jura-Nord Vaudois.
