Functions

UNHRD stockpiles rapid response equipment and survival items and organizes emergency shipments as well as technical assistance operations, maintaining a 365-day 24-hour duty service.

From the UNHRD base, emergency humanitarian relief items can be sent anywhere in the world within
24/48 hours.

In 2003, UNHRD carried out 174 shipments valued at US$ 8.8m total.
