The municipality is located in the Thusis sub-district, of the Hinterrhein district. It consists of scattered settlements over the upper Heinzenberg
moountains, at an elevation of 1384–1846 m (4,540.7–6,056.4 ft). It consists of the settlements of Unter- and Ober-Tschappina, Ober Gmeind, Usser and Inner Glas.
