Geography and morphology

The municipality has a nice morphology: the area by the sea are fieldy, the northern part has a large beach. The north-northwestern part are mountainous, by the boundary features the Pantokratora mounrains. A part of the municipality has famous mountainous settlements including Petaleia, Ano Peritheia and Lafki. Other important places are Episkepsi, nymfes, Klimatia, Agios Panteleimonas and the touristic centre of Rodia. In the western edge of the municipality has the Antinioti Lagoon.

History

Much of the houses were stone built until the 1960s. Electricity arrived in the same year. Vehicles arrived in the 1970s, the pavement of the main road and television arrived in the 1980s and computer and internet are rarely known in the beginning of the 21st century and up to date technology are not seen. The municipality was first created in 1990 out of the union of ten commuities.

Economy

Until before several years, its main economy were agriculture. The economy worked on olives. by the municipality features the Corfiot olive. Olives still produces in the mountainous part at a higher altituge. The main producgion are kumquat

 which covers 80% of the production. Other productions includes wine

. Tourism became its main industry in recent years and it serves the beach area, hotels, villas and apartments sprang up. Services covers the remainder of the industry.
