Premiering four months after the release of the film, the special was the first Star Wars documentary ever made. It is also notable for showing footage not seen in the film, particularly the scene between Han Solo

in its original form in which Jabba was played by Irish

(this scene would be included in the 1997 Special Edition of Star Wars but Jabba would now be a CGI
