 instantly becomes smitten with Tess and starts to spend more time around the hospital to be around her. Tess starts to take self defence classes to help protect women from the Ferndale Strangler. Hunter soon admits his love but Tess is disgusted and starts to date Kip Denton

 however rejects his advances and starts an affair with Hunter.

Their relationship soon becomes public with huge dispaproval from Callum and his wife Justine

. When Nate finds out, he runs away from home and when he returns admits he is gay. With further pressure and isolation from her peers, Tess tries to break up with Hunter several times but he appears to be in love. Hunter eventually proposes in late November and the next day a shocked Tess flees Ferndale with Nate, leaving Hunter sad and distraught.

At the end of episode 3885 after Tess ran away, Hunter was found by Callum with a bottle of wine, listening to the song.
