, nestled at the base of the scenic Kaimai Ranges. Te Poi is part of a thriving farming area, particularly for dairying, thoroughbred horse breeding and cropping.

Te Poi was the site of the Sunny Park-Hinuera Cooperative Dairy Co known for its casein production. In 1983 Sunny Park buildings were auctioned off after the merger with the Waikato Dairy Company. Te Poi village has weathered the loss of the factory well, due to its central location. The village is serviced by a garage, a cafe, a pub/restaurant and many other small businesses nestled within Te Poi.

The village has a primary school. Older children go to Matamata

 by bus (10 minutes) for secondary schooling. Te Poi remembers some of its past sons with its World War I memorial hall built in 1922, then the World War II memorial hall added on later.
Te Poi has a public tennis court.

From Te Poi, it is 35 minutes to Tauranga
