Background
Tata Elxswas created as a joint venture between the Tata group and Elxsi, which produced mainframe computers. However, Elxsi went out of business in the early 1990s owing to the shift in consumer preferences across the world - mainframes took a backseat with the advent of Personal Computers (PCs).
